Ella Naomi "Nan" Hamilton died on February 14, 2010, at her home in Austin, Colorado.
She was born on March 5, 1924, to Frank and Pearl (Elliott) Fujita in Hugo, Oklahoma. She lived in Anson and Abilene, Texas many years before moving to Hobbs, New Mexico, where she lived 34 years.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert and Frank and by two sisters, Rita and Patricia.
Nan was formerly married to Rusty Pearce who died in 1991.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. James Hamilton of Austin, Colorado. She is also survived by a son, Steven Pearce, and his wife Jan, of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Lindy Roberts and her husband, Roy, of Hobbs, New Mexico, a daughter, Susan Stone and her husband, Mark, also of Hobbs. Other survivors are grandsons, CJ Gernert, Rusty Pearce, Shawn Hindman and Justin Lawson and many nieces and nephews; four step-children and eight step-grandchildren.
Nan was a joy to all who knew her and she was a magnet to all whom she met. She was a vibrant Christian who bravely embraced the liver disease which took her life, knowing that she would go to be with her Lord Jesus Christ.
Cremation has taken place. Interment of cremains will take place at the Cedaredge Cemetery at a later date.
A memorial service honoring Nan's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 20, 2010, at the Mesa View Mortuary Chapel in Delta, with Rev. Jack Hamilton of Delta, Colorado conducting the service.
An additional service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2010, at the Church of the Nazarene in Hobbs, New Mexico with Rev. Kenneth Yocom conducting the service.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mesa View Mortuary and Crematory.
