Our loving, caring, Mother and Grandmother, Dorothy L. Jones, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at her residence in Eckert, Colorado. She was 93 years of age.
At Dorothy's request, a private family service and burial will be held.
Dorothy L. Crawford was born on October 24, 1916, to Ed H. and Helen (Bruno) Crawford in Eckert, Colorado. She graduated from Eckert High School and spent her entire life in the Eckert community. Dorothy served as the Eckert Postmaster for thirty-six years. She loved her work and serving her many friends and patrons.
Dorothy was a member of the Eckert Baptist Church and later attended the Presbyterian Church for over forty years. She admired the beauty of the church, which was across the street from her home. She was also a member of the May Queen Rebekah Lodge for over fifty years. Dorothy enjoyed her flowers and garden, sharing them with friends, also fishing, playing cards, crocheting, seashell collecting, traveling and her cabin on Grand Mesa.
Dorothy is survived by her two children Darlene Palmer and Ron Jones and his wife Holly Jones all of Eckert, CO, and her grandson, Kurtis "Kurt" Jones, who was her pride and joy, also of Eckert, two sisters: Carol Blumer of Denver, CO and Lois McKenna; a brother, Bob Crawford of California, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Weldon Ray Crawford and a sister Edith Hargis.
